Bare feet overload!
This's Noah's most guilty pleasure anime of this season XD
That lunch lady is the true mvp. I remember lunch running out in elementary school and being a kid I didn't know what to do. Big sad moment.
Did your lunch lady help you?
She turned around and told me. The goddess of victory won't smile upon those without the courage to grasp it.
Don't expect any charity after today.
lmao
YEEAAAHHHH BOIIIII
This is a batlefield!
Shout out to her, she hooked them up the next day lol
ye that lunch lady have seen some shit :P
She likely has that same mindset when it comes to Black Friday or Xmas shopping! Or mad, drunk football fans when their team loses, especially at a bar or BW3's (AKA Buffalo Wild Wings).
Oh, no, wait...that's more an American thing here than it is Japan's. And by football, I ofc meant American. XD
And by football, I ofc meant American. XD
FUUUUUUUUUUUU
Towa went to the same school just to apologise 🤯
Kind of reminds me of Kumiko & Reina (HibiEupho)
She's a good shy type character... not like one those annoying ones like senpai from Nagatoro.
#wholesome
I like that, now shes at ease.
Towa is best girl.
Can't wait for the tournament arc. The OP makes it look epic. Also I really like that Kendo girl xd, she's really fun to watch and tag along. And Towa, she's really the cutest.
Michi's the cutest!!!
Sanae for me!
Chad Sanae's Dad TRUE MVP
Damn... Towa's determination is top tier even going lengths to join in the same school just to apologize to her hahaha
lol making a grid on your permission form.
Well done, Hiura!
well thats one way of ordering food
The lunch lady has seen war or something, gosh damn
Sanae sure is good at pinning girls to the ground. ;)
One reason I love this show isn't so much the fact it's a CGDCT anime, and even the fact this showcases a lot of feet. I like Mou Ippon for the characters. The girls Michi, Sanae, and Towa look realistic, or rather, how a female judoist would look like. And they feel relatable. Y'know what I mean?
I'm down for pretty anime girls like Marin, Raphtalia, or Yor, but seeing characters like Michi feels more satisfying in the long run for me because they look and feel relatable.
It's also why I loved watching Eizouken back in 2020. Aside from the OP Easy Breezy or the fact it's made by Science SARU, the studio behind Devilman Crybaby 2018 (and most famous for), it's the fact that when you look past the memes poking fun of the 3 main girls because of their character design, Sayaka, Midori, and Tsubame all look like anime fans. Or rather, what a real-life female anime fan would look like.
Also, if you haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend you watch Eizouken, it's an anime about girls making anime. It's basically a love letter to anime fans the same way Avengers Endgame is a love letter to Marvel fans, especially with the easter eggs and callbacks to previous MCU films.
Toats! I love their character designs. They look very fitting for Judo but also very cute as well.
I love Michi the most so far. Her bright, cheery, honest, and semi-airheaded personality is really charming. I especially like her aloofness towards Nagumo 😂
Looks like there's 2-way tie for Sunshine girl of this season XD
Japan likes genki ditzes a bit too much, must be their way of coping with rigid East Asian society.
I didn't even realize there was a name for this specific stereotype. Thanks for the info!
I'm a sucker for those characters and maybe that's because I'm tired of the plain, dense, nice guy MC trope.
TV Tropes wiki most likely has trope names for those.
My personal term for them. Lots of shounen MMCs are this — Naruto, Luffy, Satoshi/Ash, Goku, etc.
Worse when they're Ditzy-Klutzes or even worse Genki-Ditzy-Klutzes.
Genki-Ditzes are just as overused as Beta-Naifs though.
There are female beta-naifs too & they annoy me just as much.
I actually don't mind it when it's on a female character, especially in shows that don't involve like life-threatening action. I think it fits them the best.
I really dislike it on male characters though, unless it's a side character.
And then there's those within that trope that you can tell are self-insert, or are only meant to be likable because of who voices them. Though TBH, that can be applied to several characters, if not entire casts even. Besides, how many "plain dense nice guys" have we seen in anime anyway, especially as the main protagonist? I don't have a lot of leeway to those that don't stand out or are just there when compared to those worth rooting for.
NTM we have several male characters with personalities and/or motivations, whether it's Ash wanting to be the very best, Mob wanting to be popular, Denji wanting to touh boobs, or Midoriya wanting to be the greatest hero. Or heck, the brother of Eromanga Sensei wanting to bang his sister. Being the "plain, dense, nice guy MC" isn't exactly gonna cut it these days, especially if he lacks a personality and/or motivation.
Ikr? I won't knock people for liking those self-insert characters or anything like that. I just wish these shows weren't so overly saturated with those character types.
Especially in romance animes, which is my favorite genre. I want to see two characters fall in love with each other because they find something special in each other that they won't find in anyone else. Not "Oh he's such a nice guy! He picked up my pencil for me one time and now I'm in love with him" 🤦🏼♀️
2 female beta naifs that easily came to mind were the 2 FMCs of SeijyoNo.
Most East Asian media romance is far too dragged-out though.
Even ToniKawa was wallowing in stuff some people do Before coupling.
That's why I like that Gyaruko-nee dispelled Otako-nii's prudish notions very early (Gyaruko-chan).
NTM the way their society is structured. They work so much, there's barely anytime to have fun and hang out with friends or chill at home, let alone date.
I recall seeing a YT short a few weeks ago where Joey (AKA TheAnimeMan) explains that there are Japanese people who date solely for the purpose of saying they're dating someone.
Me two!
I also like Towa as well. Looks scary on the outside and very shy, but she's the sweetest once you get to know her.
And Sanae's bright when it comes to her studies and to support Michi, joins judo as well.
yea this really is an enjoyable show to watch. Been a blast so far.
Yes I well remember those and I'm the same as you to recommend them.
Would be nice if story actually showed Michi's shallow views on romance getting subverted though
judoist
Judoka is the correct term.
Time for a Sunday dosage of cute girls doing judo!
And a ton of feet! I need to buy tissues....(nosebleeds) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
If only romance shows had more open communication like this instead of beating around the bush…
And more honesty. Like have the male lead tell the female lead how he feels or just say what's going on and vice-versa, not this beating around the bush crap. It's how a lot of bridges end up unnecessarily burned down, it's how you end up with misunderstandings like with everyone in Gamers.
I agree 100%. It's a trope in anime I never liked, and it's one of many anime cliches and tropes I feel that need to die. Like I mentioned in Fuufu Ijou, I get the average Japanese isn't as outspoken or as boastful like how Americans (myself included) tend to be, and Japanese people are way more polite, but sometimes, it's better to just talk it out than to just bottle it in. All it does is it hurts you in the long run and you end up burning a bridge that's just unnecessary to do.
If she's tight, it takes a few swings.
You should buy a case load tissue, you are sure gonna need it 😅
Love the Michi's positive attitude while Towa having sociel anxiety.
It has interesting plot and and unique characters.
I realllllly like the way they portrayed the scenario with Sanae’s dad; you can tell how much he knows his daughter because they’re so similar, and even though it was hard for him to do, he pulled through and made sure to do the right thing to make his daughter happy. I’m tearing up again just thinking about it!
Sweetness overload!
That dad is is the real MVP
